Rob Hall [UK] - Jazz Ensembles Tutor

Our principal jazz tutor Rob Hall has performed and recorded in the UK, Europe and US as saxophonist and clarinettist with such artists as Mike Stern, Dan Gottlieb, Kenny Wheeler, Jim Mullen, BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra. His many CD releases include three as leader and four in collaboration with pianist Chick Lyall on the FMR label. His compositions have been widely performed and broadcast throughout the UK and abroad.
Rob founded Jazz Course UK in 1994 and manages the main venue The Music Workshop in Scotland. A Dual Examiner (Jazz & Classical) for ABRSM he travels widely and has led presentations on Improvisation and ABRSM exams, alongside teaching saxophone at Dollar Academy. Rob has extensive experience as an educator with all sectors of education, both formal and informal, from Primary through to Adult education. This includes eight years as a lecturer at the Royal Scottish Conservatoire and 3 years as Artist in Residence with WEA Scotland.

Tim Richards [UK] - Jazz Piano Tutor

Tim is one of the UK's most active and authoritative jazz educators. As pianist and composer he has toured widely with his Tim Richards Trio, Spirit Level and Great Spirit and has released numerous CDs as a leader from Duo to 9-piece. Tim Richards is well known as the author of the Schott publications Improvising Blues Piano and Exploring Jazz Piano (1&2), and the newly released Exploring Latin Piano, a collaboration with pianist John Crawford. Tim Richards is a contributor to the ABRSM jazz piano syllabus, an ABRSM jazz examiner, adjudicater at the Nottingham International Jazz Piano Competition.
Tim teaches as a jazz piano tutor at Goldsmiths College & Morley College in London and runs a yearly jazz piano course at Leeds College of Music.

David Gray [UK] - Recording Engineer

David has been operating his own Sound Cafe recording studios near Edinburgh since 1990 and has built a reputation as the engineer of choice for many artists. He has worked with some of the pre-eminent Jazz figures in the UK such as Warren Vache, Fiona Duncan, Lianne Carroll, Barbara Morrison, Alan Barnes, Brian Kellock, Julian Arguelles as well as a host of artists from folk to country and rock to dance.
David also has a wealth of experience working with schools and colleges as well as running bespoke sound recording courses from the Sound Café. As co-director of Thick-Skinned productions he is involved in a host of activities from jazz education projects to touring and artist management.

Brigitte Beraha [Monaco/UK] - Jazz Vocals Tutor

A singer with an international reach, jazz vocals tutor Brigitte Beraha has performed and recorded with such artists as Kenny Wheeler, Pete King, Liam Noble, John Parricelli, Tim Garland, Tim Whitehead, Gwillym Simcock. She has worked in the US, Europe, Asia and Scandinavia and is a regular performer in London where she is based. She has released two CD recordings to date under her own name.
As a voice coach she currently teaches at North London International School, Goldsmiths College and the Guildhall School of Music & Drama and tutors on a variety of jazz summer schools.

Ged Brockie [UK] (Guitar - Past Tutor)

Ged currently performs with the Scottish Guitar Quartet and many other jazz artists. With a wealth of experience in music education, he also devised an HNC in Jazz Guitar.
Ged has worked in West End shows, jazz festivals across the UK & Ireland, and for BBC, RSNO and SNO(pera). Ged has studied composition & orchestration with top American film composers and regularly scores for film. He also co-runs Circular Records.

Dan Knight [USA] (Piano - Past Tutor)
Based in Iowa City, USA, Dan has built a reputation as one of the finest solo pianists in the world. Also a Steinway artist, he has performed with jazz legends Bobby Watson, Wynton Marsalis, Jimmy Owens, Victor Lewis, and a host of others.
A visiting lecturer at Grinnell College, Dan's educational skills are frequently in demand internationally. In the UK Dan has also led clinics at Trinity College, London and Leeds Jazz Conference.

Fiona Duncan [UK] (Vocals - Past Tutor)
With a professional jazz career spanning some forty years, Fionna Duncan is one of the UK’s great jazz singers. She has worked with Humphrey Lyttelton, Kenny Ball, Warren Vache, Grover Washington, Dick Hyman, Sweets Edison and many others.
She has played festivals across the world including LA, Palm Springs, San Diego, Toronto, Calgary and throughout Europe. Fionna also lectures in vocal workshops throughout Scotland.

Claudio Zanghieri [ITALY] (Bass - Past Tutor)
Claudio, an italian bassist/producer now living in Frankfurt, graduated at Berklee College of Music and is teaching in Rome as faculty director for the University of Music and in Germany. He has been featured at the European Bass Day 2005 and has recently released his first solo cd "Envisions". He has performed/recorded with Christoph Spendel, Torsten DeWinkel, Tony Lakatos, Fabio Mariani, Louis Bacalov, Luigi Tessarollo and many others. He is busy also producing and arranging electronica projects and music for film.

Nic France [UK] (Drums - Past Tutor)
Nic France established himself on the London jazz scene in the eighties working for such artists as Ian Carr, Ronnie Scott, Kenny Wheeler, John Taylor and Loose Tubes.
He has also toured with Pete Townsend, Nigel Kennedy and Annie Lennox. Nic has worked at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, Trinity College London, and on various jazz summer schools in the UK and Europe.

Josh Kemp [UK] (Saxophone - Past Tutor)
Josh is active on the London Jazz Scene, leading and writing for his quartet (their latest CD Animus will be released this year).
He has performed with Dick Pearce, Spike Robinson, NYJO and others. Josh directs the Cambridge Youth Jazz Orchestra, and is a tutor on Grafham Water Jazz Courses.

Sebastiaan Cornelissen [Netherlands] (Drums - Past Tutor)

Dutch drummer/composer Sebastiaan Cornelissen studied at The Conservatory of Amsterdam where he formed the group Isotope, along with pianist Rob van Bavel.
They have released 2 albums: Isotope and Perception of the Beholder. Sebastiaan released his debut solo album Aggressive Attack in 2002. His latest release Timeline, features Gary Willis and Lale Larson. A new album is in the pipeline featuring Randy Brecker and Gerard Presencer.
