BEGINNER TO INTERMEDIATE

Applicants for this course should have a good working knowledge of their instrument/voice and any ensemble experience is also useful. The course is not suitable for pre-Grade 3 level musicians.

The Cambridge jazz course has been running twice a year since 1995 and is the most established course of its kind in the area. Based at St Faith's School, the venue offers modern facilities and easy access to the city centre what with its central location. Cambridge has some fantastic historic buildings to discover not least within the world-famous university. The city also boasts a large number of parkland areas, some great places to eat and drink and year-round artistic events. The course is aimed at both beginner improvisers and those who have some Jazz experience already. All chromatic instruments are welcome! Participants will gain experience in improvisation, learning music by ear, ensemble playing, on-the-spot arranging, Jazz harmony, performance skills and much more. Guest tutors will be invited as required. Groups of approx 10-15 musicians.

The course runs from 10-4 on each day ending with a performance.
